Connecting Power BI to SQL Server BYOD
To connect to the SQL Server BYOD Database with Power BI:
- From the Get Data Dialog, select "Azure SQL Database" and click Connect.
- For the server name, use fb-sql-d365-prod-westus.database.windows.net (the image is wrong), and for the database, enter d365byod-prod. If possible, use the DirectQuery Data Connectivity mode as it will lower the amount of resources needed on your computer. To connect to the Synapse database, use synw-dw-prod-westus.sql.azuresynapse.net and the database of syndp_d36_prod_westus.
- On the authentication page, select "Microsoft account" and then sign in using your full email address, just as if you were signing in to D365. Click Connect.
- You will then be presented with tables in the reports schema, and can begin writing your report. If an entity is missing submit an IT ticket with the requested name.
